What happens to unclaimed lost property?

If your property has been handed in to the police or another official lost property office (maybe TFL's lost property office in London) and has not been claimed in a set time period, then the finder may be legally entitled to keep the find.

Most airlines try to find the owner, but often this is not possible due to the lack of identification.
